William Faulkner observed about the
south, “A land where the past is not dead, it isn’t even past.” With a
pinhole camera, I have photographed tangible evidence, in several southern
states, of lives lived and ways of life vanished. Ruins-public and
private, graves of persons long gone, and abandoned houses are my primary
subjects. The “woman in white” who appears in a number of the images is my
symbol for loss. |
